New Americana ~ Halsey Badlands
Although I may be less patriotic this year, looking for a permanent island escape from America, this holiday is a stand out tradition and will forever be celebrated at this lake with these people simply celebrating the joy of being together.
As I dance around with the same people year after year I can’t help but to laugh and notice the music has changed significantly while the relationships have only grown stronger. Casey and I planned to have all the mason jars painted and ready to go weeks before, but we decided to tan on the dock instead. So in return, July 3rd was full of stained clothes, messy buns holding together dreads, and music blasting outside as I painted away. Don’t need college to continue my procrastinating rituals.
I have been making these mason jars for a few years now, after I made the discovery of my treasured mod podge. Though, the game changer this year was purchasing a little jar of dishwasher safe modge podge. By covering each jar with a thin protecting coat they can now be cleaned, spilled on, or not so hypothetically dropped in the lake. I use water base paints and need a second layer to seal in the color if they are going to be reused or in contact with any water source. The secret in becoming a crafty crafter is trial and error.
